AFHRA RESEARCH

Publications and ongoing projects

Publications in the context of heart rhythm research and cardiovascular disease are critical for advancing our understanding of these complex conditions. In Africa, where rates of cardiovascular disease and heart rhythm disorders are increasing, ongoing research projects are focused on identifying new therapies and improving patient outcomes. These projects have resulted in numerous publications that have contributed to the global body of knowledge on heart rhythm disorders and cardiovascular disease in Africa.

Through ongoing projects, AFHRA's researchers continue to explore new avenues for treatment and prevention to share insights and driving progress in this field for AFHRA.

Ongoing Research

Comparison of 6-Lead versus 12-Lead.

Lead investigator: Muzahir Tayebjee

Multi-centric study focusing on Handheld electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors that are increasingly used by both healthcare workers and patients to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias. The aim is to validate the use of handheld devices against the standard 12-lead ECG. The Kardia 6L is a novel handheld ECG monitor which can produce a 6-lead ECG.

Management of Wolf-Parkinson White Syndrome in Africa.

This observational multicentric study enrolled outpatient cardiology clinics and inpatient cardiology wards at cardiac centers in Africa.

The study was coordinated by Africa heart rhythm association (AFHRA) committee.
